Anna Wise is a self-taught artist born in Birmingham, Alabama, and based in Nashville, Tennessee since 2011. Working primarily in watercolor and mixed media, she creates internal landscapes that blur the line between nostalgia, dreams, and the natural world. Inspired by memorable landscapes she has experienced and vivid dreams, her work combines fragments of emotion, place, and imagination into environments that feel both familiar and otherworldly. Through layered forms, symbolism, atmosphere, and fluid textures, Wise explores how the environments we move through shape us, and how we, in turn, shape them. Though her work often carries an undercurrent of mystery or tension, it ultimately searches for moments of hope, connection, and transformation.
Anna has participated in national solo and group exhibitions including Lorenzo Swinton Gallery (Nashville, TN), Grand Bohemian Gallery (Birmingham, AL), and Cat Eye Creative (Atlanta, GA). She has also exhibited at established art fairs including The Other Art Fair and Superfine Art Fair, was artist in residence at Graduate Hotels in 2024, and served as artist in residence at Creston Arts Center in 2026. Her ongoing series Wild Cartography is for anyone who’s ever felt lost in the chaos during changing seasons of life.
